Those people that go offline just for you.
That one or two (or more) people in your life who go offline just after you start talking to them.
How thoughtful of them. :) How considerate, how selfless, how proactive...
SURE.
In real life, going offline is about as courteous as ignoring and running away from someone who made the effort to come up and say hi to you.
Okay, here's a sample of what I mean exactly. :)
Let's welcome back Sara Lee, our resident hypothetical b*tch for this scenario! :)
It's a pretty straight forward scene, as Sara Lee fobs me off. I don't actually know what "fobs" means, other that what vegie is (Inside joke to cookie and haloman) but I like that word anyway. ;D
*Izzletays opens a chat with Sara Lee*
Izzletays: Hey saraaa :)
Sara Lee is appears to be offline. Messages you send will be delivered when they sign in.
"APPEARS" to be offline. Thanks for the tip, msn. ;)
See that right there? Even MSN is hinting to me that: "Sara Lee is just a b*tch who is trying to ignore you or can't even waste a few words talking to you. You can still message her just to annoy her."
Now I'm not talking about people (this always tends to happen to me on Facebook for some reason) that go offline just as you click on their name or just as you are typing a greeting to them. They obviously didn't know you were going to start talking to them and it was an honest mistake. Plus, annoyingly, Facebook Chat doesn't let you offline message anyway. And Chat lies to me about who is and isn't online hahaaa. :)
So all you offliners, I have three messages for you (which you won't ever read because everyone I know who reads this blog isn't an offliner).
1. Get a life. I never wanted to talk to you anyway. I probably just needed a page reference or something.
2. Stop treating me like a cyber germ.
3. Izzetays doesn't appear to be offline because she isn't an ignorant b*tch like you. Messages you send will reach her and she will reply, as she has some cyber courtesy.
These days, it's just easier having my own "support network" to talk to (the ones on my poster), who are guaranteed not to BRB or offline me any time soon. Unless they are like... dying or something.
This kinda thing is what closes us off into our own little groups in the real world.
If people of the same suburb can't even get along together when they are in the cyber world, how can you expect global peace?
